West Mifflin Tournament Update

The young Foxes wrestling team competed well over the last two days at the West Mifflin Tournament, finishing in 4th place of the 27 teams entered. They finished behind Upper St. Clair, Keystone Oaks and Fort Cherry. Unfortunately, they also suffered
two serious injuries.

High points included: Sam Molina (135 lbs) coming from a 5-0 deficit to win the Championship and remain undefeated on the season, runner-up honors were earned by Jared Rice (103), Anthony Brooks (189), Dan Mahon (215) and Tyler Lever (285). Additionally,
Shane Bialowas (145) finished 3rd, Artie Newman (130) finished in 5th place and Trevor Weis (171) finished in 6th place with five wins in the tournament. In the first round, Cristian Nicolescu suffered a season-ending arm injury. Christian is a
first-year starter at 119 lb. for FC.
In the Championship Finals, senior Dan Mahon was winning 5-4 at 215 lbs. and had to withdraw due to a leg injury. Dan is a four-year starter, is undefeated this season and has posted 68 career wins. It will be hard to replace his considerable experience
on the mat.

The Foxes next match is away at Section 3 rival Hampton on Wednesday.
